KC Prime, Lawrenceville, NJ

KC Prime is a steakhouse just behind Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville, near Princeton. I’d heard from a number of people how much they liked this place and how good the steaks were so of course I had to try it. Having recently been to Churrascaria Plataforma for the rodizio I really wasn’t in the mood for more steak so decided to go for brunch and see how it stacked up against my new favorite brunch place, Coccola in Hillsborough.

I made a reservation for 1pm for 4 people and arrived right on time. The place was packed and our table wasn’t ready yet. We ended up waiting 15 minutes until they were able to get our table ready. We got prime location for a buffet, just near the food.

The decor of the restaurant was a little disappointing. I was expecting it to be a little more “dressed up”, instead it was pretty plain and seemed to need a little sprucing up.

The brunch buffet has a number of items, including smoked salmon, bagels, muffins, fruit, omelette station, scrambled eggs, wings, ribs, couple of entres including soup, salmon, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast, waffles, a carving station and dessert.

The lobster bisque was a standout and the egss benedict were cooked perfectly though a little more bernaise sauce wouldn’t go amiss.  I liked everything I tried, I just wasn’t excited by it like I was at Coccola which has a lot more variety and more things that a real standouts. They could also do with having a better selection of fruit. I didn’t try the omelette station, but it seemed pretty good. I just hate waiting in lines and when there are so many other options, why eat something you have to wait for?

The place is obviously very popular and I may be in the minority here but I would rather pay $25 at Coccola then the $18 here. Here’s my blog on Coccola http://foodielifestyle.com/2007/11/28/coccola-hillsborough-nj/

  1. Thanks for disclosing such valuable information as it will be of great use for my older son.

  2. I go here quite often, and Sunday Brunch is the one day that they lay low. I’ve brought clients here for lunch, and my family for dinner and it is always a classy establishment. As for brunch, its a different crowd, and different food. Just thought you should try them out for dinner!
